Selected from thousands, the award to social studies teacher Garrett Griffin Jr., will enable him to pursue research on slavery in the U.S.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Among a field of thousands, East Rock School social studies teacher Garrett Griffin Jr. was awarded a fellowship grant from Fund for Teachers. The award will help support Griffin's historical research into slavery in the U.S.
Griffin’s proposal was selected from among thousands submitted by teachers nationally, according to the New Haven School District.
The Fund for Teachers invites teachers to apply for a grant for a self-determined professional growth experience and, if accepted, provides the necessary funding for the teacher to engage in a fellowship during the summer months.
