NEW HAVEN, CT, —An Edgewood School staff member was arrested after an altercation with a student during the school day Monday, according to New Haven School District spokesperson Justin Harmon.

Few details were provided about the incident, but Harmon said the district "takes very seriously any incident that poses physical risk to a student."

Harmon said the school and the district are "cooperating fully" with New Haven police investigators. Harmon said the staff member is being put on leave while the incident is investigated.
