Why are you seeking this office?

I see a drastic need for change based on the current climate in District 11. We are ranked last in education, first in violent crime and top 3 in tax burden.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents are the unaffordable living conditions, which is a direct result of what are some of the highest taxes in the state.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

As a multiple small business owner who is also building the largest sportsplex in Connecticut I understand from actual hands on experience the importance of creating revenue and opportunities for a town as opposed to increasing taxes that impacts ones residents. I also believe no one should be in office for what could be 22 terms. My energy, passion and ability to be hands on with my community is something the incumbent can not and has not done in a very long time.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

As a leader of your community since 1980 there is no excuse for performance levels that have earned us the rankings of last in education, first in crime and year-after-year tax increases.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Public Safety, Education, Taxes, Cost of Living, Mental Health, Veteran Support.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I'm highly educated with two masters degrees and a strong finance background coupled with having built multiple businesses from the ground floor. As a former professional athlete I am extremely driven, passionate and competitive. I believe results and performance matters and as of today the performance of our current leaders in New Haven speak for themselves.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

As it pertains to politics... During my door-knocking I met a woman who spent her entire life in New Haven politics and she gave me one piece of advice as someone just entering politics. "Stay in politics for as long as you can until you start to feel like you're losing your soul and then get out or it will be too late." I felt that was such a strong and eye-opening statement as politics unfortunately is a very dirty game behind closed doors.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I believe party affiliation should not matter at the local level as we should all want the same exact things for our community. We want safe streets, quality education for our children and low taxes in order to keep money in our pockets. Unfortunately, in District 11 our leaders have failed us in that regard and I hope voters are ready to create change in an area that desperately needs it.
