Understandably companies want to hire good people, but excluding felons in the job description is not fair. Many people have old charges and have turned their lives around. However if they don't have the opportunity to get a job how are they supposed to be contributing members of society? I look on Indeed.com and about half of the jobs say that you have to pass a background check, and many don't post it but they check also. What happened to Yale's deal with the city of New Haven to hire a certain number of felons? If you apply for a job with Yale they clearly state that you have to pass a background check.
So what are these people supposed to do? What is the city of New Haven doing to help people released from jail? If we don't want them to reoffend then we have to help them get gainful employment.
