Former Yale Basketball Captain Sues University over Expulsion

Jack Montague was kicked out of school for alleged sexual misconduct.

New Haven, CT - Lawyers for former Yale University student Jack Montague have filed a civil lawsuit against the school over its decision to expel him for alleged sexual misconduct.

Montague, the former captain of the university's basketball team, was expelled in February of this year, a few months before he was due to graduate. In addition to Yale, the lawsuit, filed Thursday, names the univerisity's Title IX Coordinator and Senior Deputy Title IX Coordinator, Angela Gleason and Jason Killheffer, respectfully, as defendants, reports WTNH-TV.

The lawsuit claims Montague was wrongfully expelled, in part because the university wanted to hold him up as an example of its tough policies on alleged sexual misconduct.

Montague's attorneys contend that their client and the female student who made the allegation of non-consensual sex had a relationship prior to the allegation, and Montague denies the encounter in question was not consensual.
