NEW HAVEN, CT - Students interested in receiving college credit for knowledge acquired through independent or prior study, on-the-job training, professional development, or internships now have the option of taking an exam for credit at Gateway Community College (GCC).

GCC will award credit for qualifying scores on 31 College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams. This fall, GCC is offering 34 computerized CLEP exams for students who have the appropriate competencies and experience to test out of required courses toward certain degrees and certificates. Test dates are October 4 and 18 and November 1 and 15.

Tests are available in Composition & Literature, World Languages, History & Social Sciences, Science & Mathematics, and Business. GCC recognizes and awards CLEP credit for students who are matriculated and are using the credits to meet degree requirements. Credits will appear on GCC transcripts, but scores are not calculated into the Grade Point Average or used as criteria to determine eligibility for academic honors.
