Get Your Give On with The Great Give®: May 2-3, 2017

New Haven, CT (April 13, 2017) The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven (The Foundation) announces The Great Give® 2017, The Foundation’s eighth community-wide online giving event to raise funds for local nonprofits serving Greater New Haven and the Valley.

Over a 36-hour period starting at 8:00 a.m. on May 2 and ending at 8:00 p.m. on May 3, gifts made to more than 435 participating nonprofits will be eligible to be matched; more than $182,000 in matching funds and prizes is available. A list of participating nonprofits, eligibility criteria for prizes and rules is online at www.thegreatgive.org.

Grand prizes will be awarded to the nonprofits that attract the greatest number of individual donors ($15,000); get the greatest number of new donors ($10,000); raise the most money ($5,000); and more. Gifts will be matched on a pro-rated basis with funds by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and its partner in philanthropy, the Valley Community Foundation. Additional sponsors of the event include Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Liberty Bank Foundation, Pirie Associates, and iMissionInstitute.org; each is offering a competitive prize.

New matching gift incentives have been added this year, including the NextGen Power Hour Match ($5,000) during which The Foundation will distribute prorated matching funds for all gifts made by donors born between 1974-1989; and The Konopacke Match, a matching pool ($5,000) to inspire giving to participating nonprofit animal shelters made possible by The Konopacke Fund at The Foundation. Additional features for donors have been added.
The Great Give® is the annual giving online event on giveGreater.org®, a local resource for learning and giving created in 2010 by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven to increase philanthropy in the Greater New Haven region of South Central Connecticut.
