She has been a nominee for both the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her stories have appeared in Best American Short Stories, Prize Stories: The O. Her best-selling novel, Away, was an epic story about a Russian immigrant. Her most recent and best-selling novel, Lucky Us, (Random House) came out in 2014. She lives in Connecticut and taught at Yale University for the last decade. She is now Wesleyan University’s Distinguished University Writer in Residence.

“We are very excited to sit down and talk with such an accomplished author,” said Mary Barneby, CEO of Girl Scouts of Connecticut. “At Girl Scouts of Connecticut, we encourage girls to practice leadership with grit like a go-getter, problem-solve and be creative like an innovator, try new things and embrace new ideas like a risk-taker, and show empathy like a leader. We are looking forward to hearing how Amy has done this in her own life and anticipate a fun and inspirational conversation.”

We are Girl Scouts of Connecticut.

We’re more than 47,000 members strong – girls and adults – who believe that every girl can change the world.

We’re part of a sisterhood of 2.7 million around the globe. It all began more than 100 years ago with one woman, Juliette Gordon Low, who believed in the power of one girl. We continue her vision of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. At Girl Scouts, we believe that there’s a chance for every girl to do something amazing.
