Goodwill's Lighthouse Point Park 'Fantasy Of Lights' Burglarized
A safe with cash was stolen from a trailer at the Fantasy Of Lights in New Haven, Goodwill of Southern New England's largest fundraiser.

NEW HAVEN, CT —The decades-long holiday installation Fantasy of Lights at Lighthouse Point Park is Goodwill's biggest fundraiser. Christmas weekend, a trailer on the site was burglarized and a safe containing cash and "business items" was stolen, Goodwill of Southern New England reported.
New Haven police received the report Monday morning. Police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway said "investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and other evidence to develop leads in the case."

December 27, 2021, at about 10:09 AM, New Haven Police received a call regarding a Burglary at the Festival of Lights at Lighthouse Park. Responding officers found that the office trailer for the festival had been broken into and that the safe had been stolen. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and other evidence to develop leads in the case.
Fantasy of Lights has become a holiday tradition for thousands of families over the past 27 years. This bright and colorful light display illuminates Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, Connecticut for the holiday season.

“Countless volunteer hours and large efforts have gone into this event, which is our largest fundraiser each year. We’re disappointed this happened, but it won’t deter us from our mission of helping people,” H. Richard Borer, Jr., president of Goodwill of Southern New England, was quoted as saying.
All proceeds from the event directly benefit the many programs of Goodwill of Southern New England that help countless individuals and families in the communities they serve to live more fulfilling lives through the power of work, it's noted.
