Gun Seized After Large New Haven Fight: PD

The fight involved dozens of people, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A gun was seized and two people were arrested following a reported fight involving dozens of people at the Scott Ridge Housing Complex on Eastern Street March 25.

Officer Michael Fumiatti told other officers a blue Ford SUV was trying to escape the area after the driver tried running people over with it, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.

The driver fled into East Haven and escaped, but his two passengers ran on foot. The two were eventually captured after a foot chase.

Jaquet Jacobs of New Haven and Johnny Suggs of New Haven were arrested. Suggs was charged with interfering with police, carrying a pistol without a permit and weapon in a motor vehicle after police saw him throw a silver revolver during the foot chase, Hartman said.

Jacobs was charged with interfering with police and was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained while jumping from the SUV.

The SUV driver remains at large.
