Hamden High Grad, Soccer Player Dies After New Haven Crash: PD, Report

NEW HAVEN, CT — A single car crash in New Haven Sunday claimed the life of a recent Hamden High School graduate, according to police and reports.

At around 11:45 p.m., police were called to a single car crash on Orchard Street, between Munson and Henry streets, New Haven police spokesperson Scott Shumway said.

The driver, identified as Elias Hnini, was found unresponsive and was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he passed away from injuries sustained in the crash, Shumway said.

According to a Hamden Soccer Association Facebook post, Hnini graduated from Hamden High School this year. He was the goalie for the varsity soccer and lacrosse teams.
