Happy 105th Birthday, Mrs. Hildred Hawkins!

NEW HAVEN, CT —The Community Builders hosted a special celebration in honor of Hildred Hawkins’ 105th birthday Wednesday at Mountain Valley Place in New Haven, where she lives.

Born April 23, 1918, she's "lived an extraordinary life," Community Builders noted in a news release. Based on her birthdate, Hawkins has survived two pandemics; the Spanish Flu of 1918 and 1919 and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hawkins is an active member of the Mountain Valley Place community, participating in bingo sessions and sharing stories with residents. She is a member of the community’s tech club and uses a tablet to connect to her family. She maintains her health and independence by holding a positive and humble attitude.

Known as “Mother Hawkins,” as reported by the New Haven Independent in 2021 on her 103rd birthday, she is a longtime member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church

Her well-attended birthday party included Bingo, cake and ice cream and "kind words" shared about Hawkins by members of the apartment community who have been touched by her "life and uplifting personality."
