Home Invasion Investigated In New Haven

A victim was initially listed in critical condition, but is now recovering.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating a reported home invasion that occurred on Academy Street Thursday.

Police got a 911 call about a burglary in progress shortly before 4 a.m. Police found the 25-year-old female victim in her basement apartment, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.

The woman was assaulted and had injuries to her face and head. She was initially was listed in critical condition. She is now stabilized and her condition is improving.

The lone perpetrator is a man who is likely white or Hispanic, Hartman said. He wasn't described with more detail.
