Jury Finds New Haven Man, 46, Guilty of Sexually Assaulting Child Over Course Of 10 Years: Jury

Demarres Taft sexually assaulted the victim repeatedly starting at the age of six and continued doing so until she was 16: State's Attorney.

NEW HAVEN, CT—A 46-year-old New Haven man was found guilty of the rape of girl from age 6 to 16, according to Judicial District State’s Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr.

The jury found Demarres Taft guilty of first-degree sexual assault, Doyle said.

Dpyle said that according to evidence introduced at trial, Taft sexually assaulted the victim repeatedly, starting at the age of six and continuing until she was 16.

Investigated by the New Haven Police Department, Doyle thanked NHPD Special Victims Unit Detective Samantha Romano "for her investigative efforts."

Taft will be sentenced June 9.
