NEW HAVEN, CT — A 63-year-old man who told police he was legally blind was beaten during a Grand Avenue robbery Monday afternoon.
The victim told officers he was approached by two men who both punched him in the face and stole $45 from his pocket along with prescription Oxycodone, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman. The robbers appeared to be in their 20's and wore all black, the victim said.
The robbery happened in front of a bodega. The shop owner said he didn't see the robbery and allowed police to review surveillance footage. Outdoor tapes weren't readily available.
