Man Crashes After Police Pursuit In New Haven: PD

He fled State Police on the highway into the city, according to police.

NEW HAVEN, CT — State Police arrested a man after a highway pursuit ended in a crash in New Haven.

Police tried to stop a vehicle on I-95 northbound near exit 44. The suspect was wanted for domestic violence charges.

Rogelio Rivera, 33, of New Haven fled from police and crashed into a chain link fence on Howard Avenue. He then fled on foot and a State Police K-9 was deployed to apprehend him, police said. He surrendered and the K-9 was called off.

Rivera wasn't compliant during the arrest and was pepper sprayed by police. His vehicle was searched and narcotics and a large sum of money was found, police said.

He was charged with reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, possession with intent to sell narcotics, possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana, interfering with police and reckless endangerment.
