Man Dragged From Car, Assaulted In New Haven

A reporter from the New Haven Independent witnessed the assault first hand and reported on it.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 53-year-old West Haven man was dragged from his car and beaten by three young men Tuesday.

The off-duty CT Transit bus driver was driving south on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard in a BMW when he hit his brakes hard and put his car in park near the intersection of Elm Street as a woman, three young men and dogs crossed the street, according to a first hand account from a New Haven Independent reporter.

One man approached the driver and punched him in the face and pulled him from the vehicle with the assistance of another man while a third damaged the vehicle.
