Man Follows Girls to School, Gets Arrested: New Haven PD

Detectives are investigating why the man repeatedly tried to talk to the girls, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Officers arrested a man after he was accused of following two girls to school, police said. The students who are 10 and 12-years-old told school officials at Ross Woodward School on Barnes Avenue when they arrived.

"The man’s motives for repeatedly trying to talk to the girls is the subject of the department’s ongoing investigation," said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.

Khamphat Phetchampa, 39, of Donna Drive in New Haven was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor. To sign up for New Haven breaking news alerts and more, click here.

"There was no abduction, assault or an attempt to do either reported to authorities. The girls were not harmed," Hartman said.
