Man Robbed Bank Inside Grocery Store In New Haven: Police

BREAKING: Police are asking the public for any assistance in solving the bank robbery.

NEW HAVEN, CT — New Haven police say they are investigating a bank robbery that occurred inside a grocery story on June 10. Police also said they are looking to determine if the robbery is related to two recent Shelton bank robberies.

At 12:30 PM, Officers responded to the People’s Bank branch within the Stop & Shop Supermarket at 112 Amity Road regarding a reported bank robbery, police said in a news release.

The bank teller told police she gave up an amount of cash to a man who demanded it, police said. No weapon was displayed or simulated, police said. The robber is a white man who wore a white buttoned-down long-sleeved shirt, denim blue jeans, a camouflaged baseball style cap and dark sunglasses, police said.

"The crook left the area but it is not known if he fled on foot or in a vehicle," police said.

Anyone recognizing this man is urged to phone Detectives at the NHPD Robbery/ Burglary Unit. They can be reached by phoning 203-946-6304. Calls may be made anonymously.

Detectives are looking into similarities between this and two other bank robberies in Shelton on an earlier date, police said.

"It has NOT yet been determined the cases are related," New Haven police said.
