Man Sitting In His West Rock Kitchen Hit By Bullet, 1 Of 36 Fired: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT —A man sitting in his Lodge Street kitchen late Sunday night was shot when a bullet came flying through the window, one of at least 36 fired per a ShotSpotter alert, police said.
It was around 10:15 p.m. when gunfire rang out in the area of Level Street near Brookside Avenue in the West Rock section of the city, New Haven police Capt. Rose Dell said. Police were dispatched to Lodge Street on the report of a person shot, she said. When they arrived, they found the gunshot victim, who was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dell said hospital medical staff told officers that the man suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound and is in critical but stable condition.
Detectives from the department's Major Crimes Unit and Bureau of Identification collected evidence and spoke to witnesses who said the man was in his home when shot, Dell said.
