Man Yells 'Chemical Warfare,' Causes Hospital Evacuation
Part of Yale New Haven Hospital was evacuated Monday night when a man came in with a towel yelling "chemical warfare."

NEW HAVEN, CT — Thirty-five people evacuated Yale New Haven Hospital Monday night when a man came in with a towel yelling "chemical warfare," according to reports. The man came in at 10 p.m. and asked to see a supervisor while making irrational statements.
He then removed a towel from a backpack and threw it on a counter while yelling "chemical warfare." Staff then called 911, according to WTNH.
Two hospital staff and a police officer who had contact with the towel were decontaminated as a precaution. No one has shown any symptoms thus far. Emergency crews are investigating what substance was on the towel, WFSB reported.

The emergency room is operating as normal. The intersection of Howard Avenue and York was closed during investigation but has since reopened.
