Mega Community Event A Huge Success
More than 300 people gathered at the JCC last Sunday, to kickoff the Annual Campaign of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven.
This past Sunday, The Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven welcomed world-famous impersonators, The Edwards Twins, to headline the 2020 Mega Event, a community-wide event to kick off the 2020 Annual Campaign. The show has been reviewed by NBC as “one of the most extraordinary we’ve ever seen,” “brilliant” by People Magazine and “flawless” by USA Today. Suffice it to say, the crowd that gathered in the Vine Family Auditorium couldn’t have agreed more.
Among those who attended this year’s sold out Mega Event were Minority House Leader Rep Themis Klarides. The performance included impersonations of Sonny & Cher, Billy Joel, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Lionel Richie, Lady Gaga, Barbra Streisand and more. It was, you could say, a night of the stars, and an exceptional time was had by all.
All funds raised at the Mega Event are directed to the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven’s 2020 Annual Campaign. Donations to the Annual Campaign strengthen the local Jewish community by supporting Jewish education, senior & social services and more. Donations also help strengthening our general local community through the JCC of Greater New Haven (a DBA of the Jewish Federation), Jewish Coalition for Literacy (JCL) serving 300 children in New Haven’s public schools, Inclusion programs for people with disabilities, and refugee resettlement programs through the Jewish Community Alliance for Refugee Resettlement. The impact of the $2.5 Million Annual Campaign goes far and beyond the Greater New Haven community. Funds support social causes in Israel and reach Jewish communities around the globe. As a most recent example, the mass shooting in Halle Germany was prevented because fortified doors and CCTV capacity were installed there in 2015, thanks to funds raised through the Annual Campaign.
