Monday Newhallville Shooting Sends New Haven Boy, 17, To Hospital: PD
The teen, shot on Read Street, between Winchester Avenue and Newhall Street, "walked into" Saint Raphael YNHH campus.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Early Monday evening, police got a Shotspotter alert of gunfire on Read Street, between Winchester Avenue and Newhall Street.
When police got to the call at around 5:30 p.m., they were notified that a 17-year-old New Haven boy had walked into Saint Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital with a gunshot wound, according to New Haven police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway.
The teen was then taken by American Medical Response ambulance to the main hospital's ER on York Street. The boy was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Shumway said.

The Bureau of Identification responded to the scene and collected ballistic evidence. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
