Multiple People Shot In Pre-Dawn Hours Monday: New Haven Police

Overnight Monday, three people were shot in New Haven, police said; 2 on Sherman Avenue and 1 on Ferry Street, all just before sunrise.

NEW HAVEN, CT —At 5 a.m., police got a Shotspotter alert to gunfire on Sherman Avenue, between Percival Street and Goffe Terrace, spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway said. When cops got to the scene, they found a 32-year-old New Haven man and a 35-year-old New Haven woman shot, he said. Taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, both are in stable condition, Shumway said.

Around 40 minutes later, police got a 911 call that a person had been shot on Ferry Street, though polcie had not gotten Shotspotter alert nor calls about gunfire, Shumway said. When police got to the Ferry Street location, they found a 33-year-old New Haven man shot. Taken tot eh hospital, Shumway said he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He also noted that when the Bureau of Identification went to Ferry Street, it could not locate a crime scene.

In both shooting locations, detectives from Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigations.
