New Haven 15-Year-Old Charged In Connection With Old Lyme Theft
East Lyme police said in an overnight arrest Wednesday, a teen had a credit card reported to have been in a car stolen from Old Lyme Monday.
EAST LYME, CT —Police in East Lyme said they arrested and charged a 15-year-old from New Haven in connection with the theft of a credit card from a car that was reported stolen days before in a neighboring town.
According to police, at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, an East Lyme officer conducting a "proactive patrol in response to a shoreline community reporting cars being broken," saw a person wearing a ski type mask getting out of a car in a West Main Street convenience store lot and go inside. When the officer rolled in, police said the car "recklessly fled" leaving behind the person in the store.
Police said the officer then "detained" the person, who turned out to be a juvenile. Police said he was held and then "found to be in possession" of a bank card that was reported to have been inside a car stolen Monday in Old Lyme.
