New Haven Adult & Continuing Education Center Book Give-Away Set

Held during National Adult Education & Family Literacy Week, Sept. 18-22, the book give-away is Tuesday, an Adult Ed open house is Thursday.

NEW HAVEN, CT —New Haven Adult & Continuing Education Center is hosting a book give-away and open house during National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, September 18 to 22, 2023.

The New Haven Adult and Continuing Education Center in partnership with the Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven are leading initiatives to educate and empower residents.

  • More than 225,000 Connecticut residents do not have a diploma
  • In New Haven, 1 out of 6 city residents do not have their high school diploma
  • 30% of adults in New Haven struggle to read
  • More than 210,00 Connecticut residents struggle to speak English

The Book Give-Away is set for Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m., at New Haven Adult Education, 580 Ella T. Grasso Blvd. A variety of texts will be provided for adult students and, as well as resources to promote parents reading to students. Books will be available for students as they enter school. Other giveaways and promotional items will be available.

Thursday is the open house event at 9 a.m. Also held at New Haven Adult Education on Grasso Blvd., it includes breakfast, program information, student presentations, and building tours.
