NEW HAVEN, CT—The city's animal shelter posted photos and video of what it reports is a dog abandonment and seeks the public's help in identifying the person who brought, and then left, what appears to be in a photo, an undernourished dog outside the shelter.

Last Thursday, staff of the Robin I. Kroogman New Haven Animal Shelter posted to Facebook that at around 4 p.m., "in broad daylight, a helpless dog was abandoned at our shelter's front entrance," and described the man seen in the video, noting he "tied this sweet girl to our door stopper, and left."

The dog, a white, and brown female pit bull mix, was "left with a pink leash and a red collar (no tags, or microchip), scared but safe with our team, receiving care and comfort."
