New Haven Considers Dog Ordinance

A woman was mauled to death last year in the city.

NEW HAVEN, CT — New animal ordinances are being considered following the death of a woman who was mauled by a dog and an alder being attacked multiple times by a canine in her neighborhood. Some proposals include increased fines for owners of dogs who attack and mandatory training after an attack, according to the New Haven Independent.

The city is also instituting a new standard that will send police, fire and EMS to any reported dog attack.

Jocelyn Winfrey, 53, was mauled to death by two dogs in June 2016. She had succumbed to extensive injuries.
