New Haven Convicted Felon Busted On Weapons Charges: Feds

A city man entered a plea in the case recently.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A city man has pleaded guilty to weapons charges, according to federal prosecutors. Mahdi Henderson, 25, pleaded guilty in Hartford federal court to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Prosecutors said that authorities executed a search warrant on an unrelated matter on Nov. 22, 2017, at a New Haven residence and encountered Henderson and three others inside the residence.

During the search, law enforcement discovered a loaded .22 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun under the couch where Henderson had been sitting. Forensic analysis of the handgun revealed Henderson’s DNA on gun's trigger, according to prosecutors.

Henderson’s past convictions include first-degree assault, possession of a pistol without a permit, and second-degree burglary.

Henderson faces sentencing Nov. 19. He has been in state custody on unrelated charges since Oct. 3, 2018.
