New Haven Convicted Felon Possessed Loaded Gun: Feds

A New Haven man has been sentenced to prison for violating the conditions of his release.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man was sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison for illegal possession of a gun, according to federal prosecutors. Jayren Jakar Wynn, 30, will also serve three years of supervised release.

Wynn was accused of violating the terms of his supervised release for a previous federal conviction. He was convicted in 2015 of 14 months imprisonment for crack-cocaine distribution in The Hill neighborhood of New Haven.

On July 12, 2018, New Haven police pulled over the car that Wynn was driving and found a loaded Hi-Point CF380 handgun and a quantity of marijuana in the car, according to prosecutors.

Wynn’s criminal history also includes state felony convictions for assault and firearm offenses.

On Aug. 29, 2019, he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and admitted that he violated the conditions of his federal supervised release.
