A convicted felon has been sentenced to prison for possession of ammunition.
NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man was sentenced to 23 months in prison for unlawful possession of ammunition, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Norman Wiggins, 28, will also serve three years of supervised release.
In July 2018, New Haven police conducted a controlled purchase of crack cocaine from Wiggins, who was staying at a motel on Whalley Avenue. A court-authorized search of Wiggins’ motel room revealed a box of Remington .38 caliber ammunition containing four live rounds, according to the statement.
Wiggins’ criminal history includes state felony convictions for drug offenses. On June 13, 2019, Wiggins pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
