New Haven Coronavirus Update: City Will 'Stay The Course'

Mayor Justin Elicker said that New Haven will stay the course even if the federal government relaxes coronavirus restrictions.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Mayor Justin Elicker said that the city has no intention to quickly reopen for business and ease social distancing guidelines, despite recent comments by President Donald Trump, The New Haven Register reported. He said that the city will not change course "given the erratic response from Washington to the outbreak of this pandemic."

The 15-day shuttering of businesses ordered by the federal government could expire as early as Monday.

A resident of the city died due to the virus on Wednesday. Currently New Haven has 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19. See Related: New Haven Coronavirus Update: 1st Resident Dies
