New Haven Girl, 17, Killed In Single Car Crash ID'd By Police

Camryn Gayle was driving an Acura TSX when it "crashed off the road" on Sherman Avenue Tuesday night, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police identified the 17-year-old girl killed in a car crash on Sherman Avenue Tuesday night as Camryn Gayle of New Haven.

Gayle was driving an Acura TSX when it "crashed off the road" between Harding Place and Ford Street around 8 p.m., according to New Haven police spokesperson Scott Shumway.

Gayle and her 18-year-old passenger were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where Gayle was pronounced deceased and her female passenger, also of New Haven, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The New Haven Police Crash Team responded to the scene and learned that the Acura was traveling on Sherman Avenue when it left the travel portion of the roadway and struck a tree. The crash remains under investigation.
