New Haven K2 Contained Powerful Fubinaca Chemical: PD
The drug has been described as putting people in a "zombie-like" state.

NEW HAVEN, CT — At least some of the K2 drug linked to around 100 overdoses contained a chemical called fubinaca that is a powerful synthetic cannabinoid.
Fubinaca was linked to a July 2016 event where 33 people in a New York City neighborhood were described to be in a "zombie" state, according to an article published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
It is an "ultra potent" drug that poses a public health safety concern, doctors wrote in the journal.

Police Chief Anthony Campbell said police are trying to get the word out that the batch going through New Haven is dangerous, according to NBC Connecticut. Police are hunting down the batch through search warrants. To sign up for New Haven breaking news alerts and more, click here.

Around 76 people overdosed between Tuesday and Wednesday night, according to city officials. There were some additional reports of overdoses Thursday that pushed the total number past 100. No fatalities occurred.
President Donald Trump's drug czar nominee Jim Carrol is expected to visit the city Monday, according to Mayor Toni Harp.
