New Haven Man, 40, Shot On Dixwell Street Wednesday Night: Police

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 40-year-old New Haven man was shot on Dixwell Avenue Wednesday night, police said.
It was around 8:30 p.m., when cops got a Shotspotter alert for gunfire, and 911 calls reporting that a person had been shot, according to New Haven police spokesperson Scott Shumway.
When police got to Dixwell, between Willis and Bassett streets, they found the man who'd been shot, Shumway said.

Taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
The New Haven police Bureau of Identification collected ballistic evidence from the shooting scene, and detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation, police said.
