New Haven Man, 59, Charged After Following, Trying To Lure Girls, 8 and 11, Into Coming Home With Him: NHPD

NEW HAVEN, CT—Last week, police were dispatched to a "risk of injury complaint" and were told by a mother that her eight- and 11-year-old daughters were followed home by an adult male who told the girls that he had something for them at his house," New Haven police said Monday. The man asked them to come with him, but they did not, police said. The man then "tried to grab the 8-year-old's arm," but the girls were able to run home while the male followed them, police said.

Surveillance video from the area corroborated the girls' account: "The male followed the two girls," police said.

Officers were provided a description of the suspect, and shortly after, Officers Hallstrom and Roman located a male matching the description walking in Kimberly Square.

Police identified him as Eduardo Campos, 59, of New Haven.

Campos was taken into custody and charged with risk of injury to a minor and second-degree breach of peace.

During the booking process, Campos was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant under an alias for first-degree failure to appear. His total bond was set at $65,500.
