New Haven Man, 61, Shot, Killed In Ferry Street Parking Lot: Police

Tuesday night at 9, cops found Mark Pappacoda ​shot in a package store lot. He died from gunshot injuries. Cops seek to ID the suspect.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 61-year-old New Haven man was shot and killed Tuesday night in the parking lot of a Ferry Street package store, police said.

After getting a 9 p.m. call about a shooting, when they arrived, cops found Mark Pappacoda shot in the parking lot of 282 Ferry Street, the GI Package Store, police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway said. Pappacoda was laying on the ground, unresponsive, police said. Taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, there he died from the gunshot injuries.

Shumway said that police patrol units and detectives secured surveillance footage of the incident, and in the video, it "appears as if the suspect is attempting to rob Mr. Pappacoda before shooting him."

The Bureau of Identification responded and processed the scene and Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
