New Haven Man Charged After Officer-Involved Shooting

A city man was charged after he was shot by police during an incident.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A city man has been arrested after being shot by New Haven Police. Marcus Rivera, 22, was released from the hospital Jan. 15 and turned over to State Police.

State Police charged him with carrying a pistol without a permit. Additional charges are pending. He was held in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Per protocol State Police assumed the investigation after Rivera was shot by a New Haven Police officer. Undercover officers were in the area of Lamberton Street when they spotted Rivera who was wanted on an active arrest warrant Jan. 8.

Rivera fled and police pursued on foot. He fought free and an exchange of gunfire took place, State Police said.

Rivera was hit in the pelvis area by a bullet and was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured in the incident. State Police continue to investigate the incident.
