New Haven Man Enters Plea In Weapons Case

A city man was accused of stealing and unlawfully possessing firearms.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A city man pleaded guilty in federal court on weapons charges, according to a statement from John Durham, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Abdurrahman Akhdar, 27, enter a guilty plea to one count of possession of stolen firearms.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on November 30, 2015, Akhdar unlawfully possessed, stored and disposed of a Smith & Wesson .380 caliber pistol and a Colt .45 caliber pistol, both of which he had stolen, according to Durham's statement.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 10 and faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years.

Akhdar is currently incarcerated in state custody serving an unrelated prison sentence, according to Durham

This matter is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Hamden Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas P. Morabito.
