New Haven Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Gun Charge
The man, a convicted felon, was arrested by Hamden police after being found in the possession of two guns, according to authorities.
NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man recently pleaded guilty to federal gun charges, according to authorities. Carlos Barnes, also known as “Buddha,” 29, pleaded guilty in New Haven federal court to possession of firearms by a previously convicted felon, U.S. States Attorney for Connecticut John H. Durham announced.
Barnes was arrested by Hamden police in October 2019 when he was found in possession of a Taurus Millennium G2 9mm handgun and a Springfield XD-40 .40 caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number, according to authorities.
Barnes was previously convicted in state court of carrying a pistol without a permit, sale of illegal drugs, and robbery in the first degree.

“It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce,” officials wrote in a news release.
Barnes, who has been detained since his arrest, faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on Oct. 5.
