New Haven Man Sentenced In Crack Dealing Case
A New Haven man has been sentenced to prison in relation to a federal investigation of a crack cocaine distribution ring.
NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man was sentenced to five years in prison for distributing crack cocaine, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Eric Burruss, aka "E," 40, will also serve four years of supervised release.
Burruss was arrested as part of federal and local investigators targeting drug trafficking and violent acts by the “Island Brothers” street gang in New Haven. The investigation also identified a second drug trafficking network that involved the large-scale distribution of heroin, according to the statement.
Burruss supplied crack cocaine to one of the drug trafficking organizations. He was indicted in July along with 24 others on a 15-count indictment. On Sept. 25, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute, and to possess with intent to distribute, 28 grams or more of cocaine base (“crack”).
