New Haven Man Sentenced For Heroin Dealing

A city man has been sentenced to prison for his role in a drug trafficking network.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A city man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for cocaine distribution, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Roberto Anthony Torres, aka "Toni," 52, will also serve three years of supervised release.

An investigation discovered that Malbin Rubiera-Herrera, also known as “Chaca,” acquired heroin and cocaine from sources in Connecticut and New Jersey and distributed the drugs through a network of associates, including Torres, in the greater New Haven area.

Between October and December 2018, investigators made controlled purchases of heroin and cocaine from Rubiera-Herrera, according to the statement. Court-authorized wiretaps revealed a widespread narcotics trafficking conspiracy that involved the trafficking of kilogram-quantities of heroin into Connecticut.
