New Haven Man Wins $50K in a Powerball Drawing

The man has been playing the same numbers for the past seven years and each number has a special meaning to him.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Vacation isn’t over for David Beecher of New Haven as he claimed a $50,000 prize on Powerball drawn on July 30, 2016.

Fresh off a family trip, Beecher almost didn’t play a Powerball ticket. “It was a spur of the moment,” Beecher explained to Lottery officials in a statement.

Interestingly enough, Beecher has been playing the same Powerball numbers for seven years and each number has its significance. They are a combination of his daughter’s softball jersey numbers and family member birthdays.
