New Haven Nursing Home Evacuated, 185 Patients Displaced

The home was evacuated after water from a sprinkler damaged an electric panel.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Advanced Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was evacuated Monday night after a sprinkler burst and leaked on an electrical panel.

The issue occurred in the afternoon and it was originally thought it would only take a few hours to fix, according to the New Haven Register.

A total of 185 patients were displaced and moved to temporary beds in area nursing homes, according to the New Haven Independent. The plan was put into place under a regional Federal Emergency Management Agency plan.

American Medical Response led the transport effort. It took until Tuesday morning to finish the transport.

Patients are now in Meriden, Milford, Naugatuck Valley, Wallingford and Hartford.
