New Haven Officer Involved in Shooting Incident Identified

State Police have identified the officer involved in a shooting incident earlier this week.

NEW HAVEN, CT—State Police have identified the New Haven officer who fired at a reportedly armed suspect as Officer Brian Jackson.

Jackson is a four-year member of the force.

Suspect Roberto Orsini-Rodriguez, 38, remains in stable condition.

New Haven Police and fire members responded to Ferry Street Tuesday around 10:09 a.m. on a report of a disturbance, according to State Police.

Orsini-Rodriguez was located in the first floor lobby of the building and charged at a New Haven officer with a knife, according to a release from State Police. An officer fired several shots that hit Orsini-Rodriguez.

Both Jackson and Orsini-Rodriguez were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Jackson was transported as a precaution.
