New Haven PD Chief Retiring
Chief Anthony Campbell will head off to another law enforcement job in the state.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police Chief Anthony Campbell is retiring after 21 years with the department, the last two of which as its top cop. Campbell is heading to the New Haven State Attorney's office to work as an inspector.
Like many in the department Campbell is leaving for financial reasons due to the possible loss of medical benefits, according to the New Haven Independent. Mayor Toni Harp said Campbell was a successful chief and that she knew he and potentially the department's assistant chiefs may be leaving due to the medical benefit issue.
Campbell nearly died after a fence smashed into him after a suspect rammed it with a vehicle in 2006. He underwent a tough recovery, but came back to the department and rose through the ranks.
