New Haven PD Talks Woman Off Crane

The woman told police she took PCP earlier in the day.

New Haven, CT- Officers talked a woman off crane Sunday.

Police and firefighters responded to Buchanan Marine on East Ferry Street around 2 a.m.

The 22-year-old New Haven woman was holding onto the crane about 70 feet in the area.

Officer Reginald McGlotten yelled to the woman to climb down and she listened to him, said Officer David Hartman, police spokesman.

Officer Caitlin Zerella asked the woman why she climbed up in the first place. She said that she was thinking about her life, took PCP earlier in the evening and decided to climb up the crane.

The woman's boyfriend was nearby and told police she had been drinking and that she climbed over a fence and started to climb the crane as they walked by.

The woman was take by ambulance to an area hospital for psychiatric evaluation. She was unharmed.
