New Haven Police Investigate Untimely Death In Lock-Up

A man booked on domestic violence charges died at a detention facility.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating after a man was found dead at the Union Avenue Detention Center on Wednesday. According to police, Desohn Wilson, 31, arrived at the facility at 2 a.m. after being arrested on domestic violence charges.

Then at 2:45, officers found Wilson unresponsive in his cell and immediately summoned emergency medical assistance. An ambulance transported Wilson to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

NHPD Major Crimes detectives and NHPD Bureau of Identification forensic detectives responded to the detention facility.

Police believe the death death is believed to be non-criminal, but the investigation is ongoing. The cause of death ruling is dependent upon a finding by the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
