New Haven Police Make Arrest In 2019 Double Shooting
A man has been arrested on charges connected to a shooting last February.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Police have arrested a man involved in double shooting in February of last year. Tyriq Martin was charged with firs-degree assault and criminal conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.
The Feb. 5, 2019 shooting on a Shelton Avenue front porch injured two brothers, ages 19 and 20. The 20-year-old man was shot several times and suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident, according to police.
Police said Detective Daniel Conklin obtained an arrest warrant for Martin last week and investigators began looking for him. Friday morning, investigators located Martin at a Branford motel where he was taken into custody without incident.

Assistant Chief of Investigations Karl Jacobson said, “Detective Conklin did an excellent job working this investigation. For their assistance, the department also thanks the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office and A.T.F. (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives).”
Martin is being held at the NHPD Union Avenue Detention Center on a $250,000 court set bond and will be arraigned today in New Haven Superior Court.
