New Haven Police Officer Hurt In Hit-And-Run

Police are looking for the driver a dark SUV, who struck an officer in New Haven Saturday night.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run that injured a New Haven police officer Saturday night.

According to NBC Connecticut, the officer suffered minor injuries after being struck near Long Wharf Drive at around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. It’s the second high-profile hit-and-run in New Haven within a week. A toddler was left in intensive care after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in New Haven on Sep. 1.

The driver who struck the officer Saturday was believed to be driving a black Nissan-style SUV. The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information about it is urged to call the New Haven Police Department.

The driver in the Sept. 1 hit-and-run turned herself in to police two days later as outrage spread over the injuries to three-year-old, Avery Aranjo, who suffered multiple broken bones, News8 reported. Avery was struck at the corner of Howard Avenue and Cassius Street.
